Lite ögongodis

Donna Krakovitz Feiner believes in magic, not the kind summoned with a wand, but the kind that arises on its own and strikes the heart. "On any given day, I experience magic here," she says of the property she shares with her husband, Glenn, and their son, Noah. "A red-tailed hawk flew in my kitchen. A wild turkey walked up the steps. Honeybees made a heart-shaped swarm." Pictured: Donna has spent years amending the soil in her organic vegetable garden and made all the structures from felled poplar trees. The bounty includes heirloom tomatoes, eggplants, beets, French bush beans, lettuces, herbs, and later a variety of cold-weather crops. Her son, Noah, loves to climb the garden's peach tree.
